While there are several key contributors to ensuring the amazing journeys LOKA clients experience, I am the “Messianic Mama” charged with leading the troops! Read on if you want to learn a bit about my personal journey into the Kingdom of God….
Travel captivated me early on at the age of fifteen when I travelled to Russia. I knew then that seeing and experiencing the world would be a significant part of my life’s journey, so much so that I went to one of the nation’s leading Hospitality and Travel Universities. I loved it! I graduated with honors and an Associates degree in Travel and Tourism Management, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Sales and Meeting Management. I traveled to Spain and spent a month in Greece…. and actually got college credit for it! Life was pretty good!!
Fast forward a few years. I was living life and active in the travel business when my then husband was divinely used to lead me back into relationship with the Lord. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my real life was just about to begin.
My new relationship with Yeshua (Jesus) forced me to re-evaluate every single aspect of my life…. including my business. To put it very mildly, this was an extremely difficult time. I didn’t care. I was willing to risk it all because that empty place in my spirit, that place I could never seem to fill through my own efforts, was finally FULL! I was so tired of living like the world (it’s exhausting!) and even more tired of hearing someone share one or two scriptures on a Sunday morning, followed by an hour or so of dramatic personal story telling and motivational speaking. I wanted to know and understand and live the truth— real biblical truth —and I knew I had to go to the source of where it all began…. ISRAEL.
After a series of unusual life events and two back-to-back trips to Israel, I came to realize that my purpose was to be a gesher (a bridge) of understanding for Christian and Messianic believers, helping them discover the Jewish roots of their faith through travel, total wellness and most importantly, doing what God has called all believers to do in these last days…. tikkun olam (repair the world) by tearing down the wall between Christians and the Jewish people, ardently supporting them and the land of Israel.
The Lord commanded me to “take His people to His land”. His people are the faithful, committed believers in Messiah and “His Land” spans the entire globe— for all the earth is His, and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1).
LOKA Travel is my obedience and love gift to the Father.
Over the years, God has blessed (and continues to bless!) me to travel to many beautiful and diverse destinations around the world, having experiences all along the way that continue to shape and transform my life. And now it’s your turn to discover Israel, the Holy Land, and beyond through the eyes of Yeshua!
I invite you to travel with us, deepen your faith through knowledge and understanding (Hosea 4:6), and enjoy the abundant life through wellness (3John 1:2). NOW is the time to experience Kingdom Living, just as God intended! Shalom….
About Our Name and Logo….
LOKA is a Sanskrit word that means “world”. Some people mistake it for the Spanish word “loca”, meaning crazy. Depending on the day (or the hour!), I would have to claim both meanings, because things can definitely get a little “crazy” in my “world”!
A part of the logo for LOKA Travel is the “grafted in” symbol. This is the identifying mark of the early believers in Yeshua (Jesus) and is symbolic of being grafted in to the olive branch—the process that is taking place right now in the lives of many Jews and Gentiles worldwide. Hallelujah!
The name Yeshua is the given, Hebrew name of our Messiah, our savior. In Hebrew it means “God is salvation“. Jesus is actually the Latin/Greek name derived from “Iesus/Yesous”, and while millions of believers around the world lovingly call on the Messiah by this name, it was not the name used when He walked this earth. In fact, the name “Jesus” did not even exist during the time Yeshua was on earth!
The Menorah represents the Torah (the first five books of the Bible given to Moses), and the Magen David (Star of David) is symbolic of the Kingdom and a reminder that the son of David, Yeshua the Messiah, will again sit on the throne of David in Jerusalem! The Ichthys (fish), familiar to many believers, is actually the Greek word for fish. The letters that make up this word are also the initials of five Greek words that mean “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour” (Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter).
The nation of Israel is featured at the center of the “O”, and represents a world globe within the word LOKA. Israel has long been known as the very center of the great kingdoms of the ancient world. And its capital, Jerusalem, is geographically the center of the world!
